The comic strip was a series of comedy films staring Rik and Ade as well as Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders (Ade's real life wife) on occasions they were joined by Nigel Planer best known as Neil from the young ones.

The Young Ones
The Young Ones was a comedy which helped bring
alternative comedy into fashion , with weird plots musical interludes it was
must see TV. The plot centered around four students all sharing a house and
living in filth. 
In the house were
Rik: he was a huge fan of Cliff Richard, and tried to meet girls at every available opportunity. (he is the one far left) (played by Rik Mayal)
Vivian: This is a guy on the edge with a taste for destruction and violence mostly inflicted on Rik.

Neil: The hippy type who cooks the most but weirdly only with lentils.

Filthy, Rich and Catflap
This was a show shown on BBC2 in 1987, but was not on for long.
This stared
Rik Mayal as Ritchie Rich a sad person trying to become a star
It also stared Adrian Edmondson as Eddie Catflap who was employed as Ritchie's minder but is useless at his job and ends up hurting Ritchie instead of protecting him.
And finally Nigel Planer as Ralph Filthy (or Filthy Ralph as he's sometimes called) he is a alcoholic agent.

This was there most recent TV show its plot revolved around Richard Richard and his flat/Best mate Edward Elizabeth Hitler. Most episodes would involve them getting into fights using umbrellas, frying pans or anything the4y could lay their hands on. This was and sometimes still is shown by BBC2/ UK gold.
RICHARD RICHARD
This character was played by Rik Mayal and was a really sad lonely person trying to get girls to go out with him and failing miserably, The closest he comes is with magazines or catalogues
Richard
is the one on the couch.
EDWARD ELIZABETH HITLER
He was played by Adrian Edmondson and was a almost always drunk violent man who loved to inflict pain on to Richard. He got asked quite a lot in the series if he was related to adolf Hitler and he would reply that was his mothers name.
Eddie is the one with the bat.
In my opinion this was their best show.
